Classes Descriptions:

Before Bruce Lee disbanded his martial arts schools he told his instructors that they could continue teaching and to "keep the numbers low, but the quality high." Currently at NIRVANA JEET KUNE DO SOCIETY, Jeet Kune Do (JKD) lessons will be offered to you in private, semi-private, small group and regular group classes. This will provide members with the utmost quality instruction and individual attention needed to be an elite JKD martial artist! Each student can expect to learn the following in all classes; Verbal and non-verbal de-escalation skills for violence prevention, Jeet Kune Do philosophy, mindful awareness, punching, kicking, trapping hands, ground-fighting, simultaneous defense and attack (counter-attacking), principles of bio-mechanics to develop explosive speed and power, body conditioning for martial arts, strength and mobility, weapons training and defense and much more!

A Private Facebook page exclusive to NIRVANA JKD Society members will provide class updates, educational material and a place for us to discuss anything JKD and health.

Group Classes (Mon, Wed & Fri)

Group classes will provide the practitioner with the foundational training needed to be proficient in Jeet Kune Do. Mastery of the basics along with the progressive application through the three stages of technique will be a central theme; 1. Synchronization with self (form and technique), 2. Synchronization with a cooperative or lightly resisting opponent, and 3. Application under fighting conditions (full contact sparring). Each student will work and progress at their own pace.

Small Group Classes (Sun)

Small group classes provide close attention from the instructor to advance your skills twice as fast and focus on the individual needs of each practitioner. You'll get to know the other members you are working with. You’ll share the gratification of training hard and celebrate the physical and mental breakthroughs and accomplishments as a close knit Jeet Kune Do society working towards a common goal, NIRVANA! (To maximize quality lessons for each member, the Sunday small group class will not exceed more than 6 to 8 students. It is a private setting and not open to the public for observation. Please call ahead for availability).

Semi-Private Classes (2-1)

What better way to learn then with a friend or family member? Semi-private lessons allow the practitioner to get personalized training to achieve their personal goals and do it with a partner! Compared to private lessons, the reduced rate of semi-private lessons is a great alternative and you get to train with someone you know!

Private Lessons (1-1)

Learn Jeet Kune Do privately from 3rd generation Bruce Lee Student and Founder of NIRVANA Jeet Kune Do Society, Jesse Ohliger. Jesse will work with you to identify your personal needs so that he can provide you with the best instruction possible tailored to your individual abilities and goals.

Breathwork (Wednesdays)

Through both ancient and modern breathing techniques that are backed by science and used by professional athletes, Navy Seals and Yogis, you will learn to use your breath to improve your overall health and martial arts performance:

  • Develop your respiratory muscles to generate more power in your movements

  • Reduce stress, anxiety, and anger by initiating the body’s relaxation response and regulating stress hormones like cortisol

  • Activate the parasympathetic nervous system — which keeps you cool, calm and collected

  • Foster an increased mind-body connection; crucial to remain sharp and quick in our movements

  • Improve blood flow and oxygenation of blood — which boosts both energy and immune function

  • Increase sense of presence, self-awareness, self-acceptance, and inner peace

  • Increase theta and delta brain waves, which correspond to states of receptivity, insight, intuition, and deeper sleep

  • Reduce inflammation and pain
